GREEEN
​The Philippines’s unique climate conditions make it a challenge to design, implement, and commission a green building to fit intricacies of the local environment. This highlights the importance of developing a localised green building rating system that does not merely adapt matrices from other countries. PGBI recognised this need and developed its GREEEN Rating System specifically applicable for our country, which is the result of collaborative efforts to produce standards and guidelines in order to help guide and educate industry professionals.

GREEEN, short for Geared for Resiliency and Energy Efficiency for the ENvironment is a total effort of the Philippine Green Building Initiative, Inc., (PGBI).

GREEEN was initially developed by the technical committees of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), Philippines Chapter, the Philippine Society of Ventilating Air-Conditioning and Refrigerating Engineers (PSVARE) and the United Architects of the Philippines.
GREEEN is a Green Building Rating System that will provide a voluntary, code-based, environment-responsive set of criteria to evaluate buildings that are newly constructed and undergoing major renovations.
GREEEN is a collection of associated documents and tools which aid designers in developing and achieving green building goals.

GREEEN aims for resiliency, energy-efficiency, occupant well-being, environmental performance and economic returns of buildings using established and innovative practices, standards and technologies through its use as a set of design guidelines.
​
GREEEN provides one definition, widely accepted by industry for what constitutes a green building.
