The lecture gave an overview on the local green building rating and certification program called Geared for Resiliency and Energy Efficiency for the Environment (GREEEN) GREEEN is a program by the PGBI.
The lecture discussed GREEEN for New Construction and Major Renovation. Punsalan shared the basic sustainability principles, the objectives and methodology, the framework and mandatory requirements. It also featured the 8 categories: Energy and the Environment; Sustainable Site; Material Sustainability; Water and Wastewater Management; Indoor Environmental Quality; Climate Change Resiliency; Construction Organization and Management; and Building Operations and Maintenance.
Architects Punsalan and Abiera are recognized as speakers on the GREEEN Rating System and Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE), respectively. .
EDGE is another green building certification system developed by the World Bank- International Finance Corporation. EDGE projects in the Philippines are certified by PGBI.
